Advanced Pain Management:
”What are the options?” Advanced pain management is what some refer to when attempting to make someone's last moments as pain free as possible. This is usually what occurs as someone is nearing the end of life, and is in extreme pain.
It is now that a doctor will do all that is possible in order their patient feel as comfortable as possible. The problem with this type of pain management is that there is not a lot of research or data that can be collected as there is not a real way to measure how much the symptoms improve or what is actually occurring if the patient does feel better. This is because in many instances the individuals have stopped communicating. For this reason they cannot provide a lot of hard evidence or accurate details as to the relief that they feel as a result of the treatments that they are receiving. Of course, there are many individuals who are not near end of life but need techniques to manage advanced levels of pain.
